Wes MaurerGannett Fleming continues to grow expertise and service offerings in the energy sector by promoting Wes Maurer, AICP, to vice president of energy policy and innovation. This comes after the recent hiring of industry veteran Larry Head as the Energy Services Corporate Business Group director.

In this new role, Maurer will expand Gannett Fleming’s energy services for clients in the renewable power generation, energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and power delivery markets. Leading up to his promotion, Wes served as Gannett Fleming’s national smart cities lead and a corporate sustainability director, leading planning and execution of intelligent infrastructure and data-driven public service delivery through the integration of new technology solutions.

In welcoming Maurer to the Energy Services group, Head reflected on Maurer’s past and present experiences, “Before joining Gannett Fleming, Wes served in a variety of executive-level government roles where he functioned as a chief strategist for advancing energy infrastructure, technology, and advanced mobility, including electric and autonomous technology applications. This move is a natural next step in strengthening Gannett Fleming’s leadership in a diverse range of urban and regional development issues in a way that encompasses both public and private sector perspectives. He’ll be a vital asset as we help our clients navigate the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act’s funds and grants to facilitate growth in the Energy Services business.”

John Derr, PE, executive vice president, added that “During Wes’ tenure leading many of the firm’s advanced mobility and corporate sustainability initiatives, he was a major force in establishing Gannett Fleming in new and emerging market areas. This included a consequential electric grid and charging station innovation project for the U.S. Department of Defense, an electric bus fleet conversion study and design project for the School District of Philadelphia, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Smart Mobility Plan. This promotion will strategically leverage Wes’ combined expertise in both the energy and mobility sectors to enhance the innovative solution offerings that we provide to our clients.”
