U.S. Green Building Council MemberWith a focus on sustainable design practices, our staff includes Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) accredited professionals, who are experienced in working as part of integrated design teams – owner, architect, and civil, structural, and electrical engineer – to design high-performance buildings. Mechanical systems play a significant part in the success of such buildings through improved indoor air quality, better space temperature and humidity control, and increased energy efficiency.

Increasing sophistication and complexity of building systems has resulted in a greater reliance on technology in building environmental control and energy management systems. We work with the owner and the design team to provide the level of control functionality necessary to meet the requirements of each project. Control systems are specified to meet these requirements and provide the tools for the facility manager to operate, maintain, and service the installed systems.

We also recognize the increasing emphasis placed on security in modern buildings and building systems. Building mechanical system infrastructure, including heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and fire protection systems, is vulnerable to failure in extraordinary incidents, whether caused by war, terrorism, accident, or natural disaster. The health and safety of building occupants is a prime consideration in the design of mechanical systems; therefore, the design process must address the possibility of failure, disruption, or reduction in service of any building system.

Another market area in which we are active is design-build. We have worked with several contractors as the design part of the design-build team. Fast response and quick turnaround of documentation are key elements of the design-build process. We have participated in a number of successful projects and continue to be actively involved in this arena.
