      <description><![CDATA[<p>At the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Baltimore Post annual awards event, the Baltimore, Md., office of Gannett Fleming and its staff received several accolades.</p> 
<p>Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm, was honored with the Post’s Sustaining Member of the Year Award for its outstanding contributions to the organization. In addition to the active involvement on the Post’s Board of Direction by Robert W. Scrafford, P.E., an environmental scientist/engineer in Gannett Fleming’s Baltimore office, and Gannett Fleming retiree James A. Durkay, P.E., numerous other employees of the firm have regularly attended meetings and supported the Post’s events. Also, the firm supports the Post’s young member participation and student activities, among other initiatives.</p>]]></description>

Figg, Jr., Medal for Signature Bridges at the 27th Annual International Bridge Conference in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Figg Medal is an international award given annually to a single recent outstanding achievement in bridge engineering that, “through vision and innovation, provides an icon to the community for which it was designed.” The George Street Bridge is only the forth structure in the U.S. to be honored with this award.</description>
