Mining and Reclamation Services
Gannett Fleming is a recognized leader in environmental, geologic, and engineering services for the mining and reclamation industry. We know the mining and reclamation industry – and, we know how to rapidly identify the unique aspects of each project early in the planning process. From mineral exploration, to mine planning and permitting, to abandoned minelands (AML)/acid mine drainage (AMD) reclamation and mitigation, the coal, industrial mineral, and reclamation industries face many regulatory and environmental challenges.
Our firm’s reputation and excellent working relationship with both federal and state regulatory agencies enables us to develop environmentally sensitive, cost-effective mineral extraction and reclamation management strategies for our mineral industry clients. We also work with various private individuals/organizations and governmental agencies to investigate abandoned mine sites relative to watershed assessments, reclamation of AML, and AMD assessments and mitigation through passive and/or active treatment technologies.
Our mineral exploration and mining support services are supported by L.G. Hetager Drilling, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Gannett Fleming, as well as associations with other drilling companies, surface geophysical equipment, a modern geotechnical laboratory, and GeoDecisions, Inc. GeoDecisions is a division of Gannett Fleming specializing in geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing technology for natural resources and environmental and engineering applications. Our mining and reclamation group, coupled with a nationwide network of offices, provide the skills and resources necessary to supply professional planning, design, and engineering services to a variety of private and public clients.
