Occupational Safety and Health

Evaluation DocumentationGannett Fleming has been providing a wide range of occupational safety and health services to clients for more than 30 years. Each of these services ultimately results in our clients’ having healthy workplaces and healthier employees. This, in turn, results in significant savings in worker compensation premiums.

As part of our commitment, we also assist clients in all areas of their work to comply with today’s necessary stringent Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

The following offers a brief overview of the services that our Certified Industrial Hygienists and Safety Professionals provide:

Hazardous Materials Surveys

We have conducted a variety of hazardous materials surveys for both industry and private clients. In particular, these surveys have targeted building materials containing asbestos and/or PCBs.

Indoor Air Quality Studies

Our professional staff provides consulting services to evaluate indoor air quality, or indoor environmental quality (IEQ). While typically conducted in response to occupant (staff) complaints, IEQ studies are also performed as part of routine building activities.

A typical IEQ study may include building walk-throughs, occupant interviews, and air sampling for various contaminants. Such building-specific contaminants include carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and formaldehyde.

Ergonomic Assessments

Ergonomic AssessmentsMany factors are considered when conducting ergonomic assessments, including the height and position of an employee’s desk and chair, as well as his or her computer and keyboard set up. If an employee’s complete work station is not properly suited for the person and task, he or she can experience minor to significant discomfort. Common symptoms include neck and shoulder tension and wrist pain.

Our professional staff is prepared to conduct complete work station assessments and recommend adjustments that best suit individual employees and the tasks they complete on a daily basis.

Job Safety Analysis

We are highly qualified to conduct job safety analyses for work processes that have the potential to result in losses to an organization, or injury to employees. These analyses are an effective tool in identifying hazards that may be encountered during task- or job-specific activities. The analyses are often completed during the development of health and safety plans for hazardous waste site organizations.
