Newbrough Contributes to the Success of Wish Ball
On April 24, 2010, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona held its 30th Annual Wish Ball at the Sheraton in downtown Phoenix, Ariz. The event included an appearance by the founder of Make-A-Wish foundation and several celebrities. The night was filled with both silent and live auctions, including an all-expense paid trip for 12 to Ireland, a raffle for a necklace valued at $5,000, and live music performed by country star and former Wish Kid, Kevin Sharp. During the event, one Wish Kid was granted her wish to go to Disney World in Orlando, Fla. She and her family left for their trip the morning following the event.
Laura Newbrough, a project accountant in the Phoenix office, served on the silent auction committee and asked local businesses for auction donations. She obtained more than 50 donations, including several autographed items from the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks players. The event was a huge success and will allow the foundation to grant several wishes.
