Water for People
In December 2005, the Newport News, Va., office was approached by members of Newport News Waterworks to participate in a groundbreaking effort to raise awareness and money for Water for People. Water for People (WFP) is a charitable organization set up by the American Water Works Association. The mission of WFP is to provide clean drinking water and sanitation to children and families in developing countries around the world.

Jessica Waibel and Nicole McDonald volunteered their time to serve on the steering committee. Representatives from 15 companies in the Oyster Point business community, where Gannett Fleming’s office is located, contacted more than 800 businesses to raise awareness. The Newport News office employees were strong supporters of the effort, attending all three events and participating in an office giving campaign. The WFP fundraiser was very successful, as more than $13,000 was raised in a single week!
