Valley Forge Office Plants Trees, Cleans Stream for Earth Day Celebration
On April 21, the Valley Forge office held its annual Earth Day/Gannett Day event. The Valley Forge Environmental Management Group organized volunteers to help plant three red maples, four serviceberry, three red chokeberry, three black chokeberry, and four arrowwood plants along the stream corridor that runs through our property. One group of volunteers cleaned up trash from along the stream banks along our office building. Another group worked on pulling weeds from around the trees and plants along the stream corridor that had been planted in previous years. Another group planted some brown-eyed susans at the base of our bluebird boxes to help attract even more birds. The final group started a meadow area where we planted several flats of herbaceous plants among some pine trees. These efforts will allow the area to go back to a more natural setting.
