Derr Named Senior Vice President and Director of Gannett Fleming’s West Region

 (Phoenix, Ariz.) John A. Derr, P.E., principal, and director of the firm’s national Highway and Civil Practice leadership teams, has been named a senior vice president and director of the West Region of Gannett Fleming. Based in the Phoenix, Ariz., office, Derr began his career at Gannett Fleming 24 years ago in the corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa. He relocated to the Phoenix office five years ago to lead the firm’s transportation efforts in the West.
Derr assumed his new post on Jan. 1, 2012. His responsibilities include directing the planning, design, and management of civil, transportation, and environmental projects, as well as working closely with regional office managers to maximize the firm's opportunities in the West Region and to ensure the firm delivers its Brand promise: Excellence Delivered As Promised for every project and every client.
Derr holds a bachelor of science in civil and environmental engineering from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a licensed professional engineer in Arizona, Florida, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Additionally, he is an active member of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), and the International Bridge, Tunnel, and Turnpike Association. Derr also was the recipient of the national 2011 ASHE Member of the Year award and of the ARTBA 2010 Guy Kelcey Award.
