Gannett Fleming Participates in National Safety Month

July 1, 2011

(Harrisburg, Pa.) In support of the firm’s strategic employee and client safety goals, Gannett Fleming participated in National Safety Month this June – an annual observance to increase awareness of the top causes of preventable injuries and to encourage safe behaviors.

The cornerstone of this event was the firm’s participation in the National Safety Council's (NSC) "Million Acts of Safety" campaign. The goal of the promotion was to highlight how small acts can have a major safety impact. “Throughout the month, we encouraged all employees to observe safety acts during working hours, as well as when they were off the job. Employees were asked to log at least one safety act throughout the month, including those occurring at work or at home,” said Paula J. Loht, CIH, Gannett Fleming’s corporate safety manager. To date, the NSC’s “Million Acts of Safety” campaign has reached more than 7 million people globally.

Gannett Fleming abides by its corporate Safety and Health Policy, which was originally adopted by the Gannett Fleming Board of Directors in 2001. With significant input and ongoing effort from the firm’s Corporate Safety Group and Safety Committee, the firm provides employees with safety programs, training, and safe workplace practices.
