Mouradian Awarded ASCE Philadelphia Section Geotechnical Engineer of the Year

 (Valley Forge, Pa.) The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Philadelphia Section recognized Ara G. Mouradian, P.E., as its 2011 Geotechnical Engineer of the Year. Thomas W. Brady, ASCE Philadelphia Section president, presented the award plaque to Ara at the annual spring social and dinner that was held May 13, 2011, at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in the Auto Mall in Philadelphia, Pa. Mouradian serves as department manager for the Geotechnical Group in the Valley Forge, Pa., office.
With more than 25 years of experience, Mouradian is responsible for the management and technical review of geotechnical activities. He has been involved in the geotechnical design of multimillion dollar transit and rail, department of transportation, and vital infrastructure projects. Mouradian is also the vice president of Quantum Geophysics, a division of Gannett Fleming, Inc., specializing in surface and down-hole geophysical methods to identify subsurface conditions in support of engineering, environmental, and groundwater investigations.
Mouradian holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the American University of Beirut and a master of science in geotechnical engineering from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He has also completed doctorate-level courses at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. A registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, Mouradian is a member of the Geo-Institute of the ASCE, the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, the American Society of Highway Engineers, the Society of American Military Engineers, and the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineers. He also is chair of the Delaware Valley Geo-Institute.
