Gannett Fleming to Provide LOCATE/IM for Tennessee Department of Transportation

  (Tampa, Fla.) Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm, was recently selected by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) for a three-year contract to provide its LOCATE/IM services on a statewide basis.
LOCATE/IM is a hosted Web-based automatic vehicle location and computer-aided dispatch system developed specifically for incident management. The system is customizable to interface with Traffic Management Center (TMC) software and legacy systems.
LOCATE/IM was developed by the VANUS Group of Gannett Fleming and has been in use in Florida for several years. LOCATE/IM provides complete command and control of an organization’s motorist assist/incident management fleet. Optimized for incident management, the system includes detailed performance measure monitoring functions, complete reporting functions, and optional, easy-to-use, field-hardened mobile data terminals for operations personnel.
TDOT’s deployment, which includes 85 incident management vehicles known as "HELP" trucks, is expected to be complete by mid-summer. Gannett Fleming will continue to operate and maintain the system for the remainder of the three-year contract. The system will be operated from regional TMCs in a number of locations throughout Tennessee, including Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.
