ASCE Honors Gannett Fleming’s Pittsburgh Office

Eric Veydt, P.E. accepting the 2009 Employer Recognition Award(Pittsburgh, Pa.) Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm, was recently recognized with the 2009 Employer Recognition Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Pittsburgh, Pa., Section. The Employer Recognition Program was established as part of the ASCE Strategic Plan to recognize and acknowledge employers who support member participation in ASCE activities.

A plaque was presented to Eric Veydt, P.E., at the section’s Annual Engineer’s Week Banquet to express ASCE’s gratitude for the firm’s continuing support. Veydt is a vice president and manager of transportation in Gannett Fleming’s Pittsburgh office.

Currently, more than 380 Gannett Fleming employees hold an ASCE membership nationally, and 30 of those members are from the Gannett Fleming Pittsburgh office. Through the years, Gannett Fleming’s Pittsburgh office has had numerous members on the ASCE Pittsburgh Section Board of Directors, with many starting their involvement on the technical institute boards and continuing to serve ASCE Pittsburgh Section as presidents, vice presidents, and directors.

Terry Downs, P.G., a Geotechnical Services Group manager in Gannett Fleming’s Pittsburgh office and the current president of the ASCE Pittsburgh Section said, “Gannett Fleming members have benefited from the chapters numerous resources and opportunities. They have also contributed countless hours of dedicated service assisting ASCE Pittsburgh Section in meeting its society objective to advance the science and profession of engineering to enhance the welfare of humanity.”
