Alabama Risk-Based Corrective Action (ARBCA) Course Scheduled for May 19 and 20, 2010
May 7, 2010
(Houston, Texas) Dr. Atul Salhotra, Ph.D., founding principal of the Risk Assessment and Management Group (RAM Group) of Gannett Fleming, Inc., is conducting a training program titled Understanding and Implementing the Alabama Risk-Based Corrective Action (ARBCA) Process. The course will be held Wednesday and Thursday, May 19 and 20, 2010, at the Sheraton Hotel in N. Birmingham, Ala., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Attendees will achieve 16 professional development hour units. Gannett Fleming is an international planning, design, and construction management firm.
The two-day course will focus on procedures for making corrective action decisions at sites in Alabama, as established and published by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) in the ARBCA Guidance Manual. Dr. Salhotra will guide attendees through the two ARBCA processes, including the computational software, and its application to a variety of sites. To implement the process, Dr. Salhotra will demonstrate optional user-friendly ARBCA computational software. Throughout the course, site-specific examples will provide practical insights. Specific elements of the course include:
- Technical basis and objectives of ARBCA
- Data needs to implement the ARBCA process
- Understanding of PSL, RM-1, RM-2, and tiered evaluation
- Differences between UST & Agency-wide ARBCA programs
- Demonstration of software to perform calculations.
The ARBCA course is designed for industry, consulting, and regulatory agency professionals who perform site investigations; oversee or review health risk assessments for remediation of contaminated sites; and establish and negotiate environmental cleanup levels. The curriculum includes a comprehensive review of technical, regulatory, and state-of-the-practice issues related to ARBCA. ADEM personnel may be in attendance and available to answer questions regarding implementation of the program.
Dr. Salhotra is nationally known for his teaching skills and has presented several courses in Alabama. More than 500 past attendees have rated Dr. Salhotra’s ARBCA training course as “excellent.”
The course is limited to 20 attendees to ensure the highest value in learning. The fee is $795. On-site registration will be allowed only if space is available. Contact Samantha John via e-mail or (713) 784-5151 to reserve your space.
