Gannett Fleming Wins NRCS Dam Safety Contract

December 4, 2009

(Harrisburg, Pa.) Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm, has been awarded a five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for architectural and engineering services related to dam safety. Gannett Fleming was one of six firms chosen for this $60 million, multiple-award contract.

This nationwide contract is funded in part by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and will include dam assessments, design, design review, and construction management of new or rehabilitated dam or other water resource-related projects. Projects will be performed throughout the continental U.S. and Alaska.

Gannett Fleming was selected for this contract because of its demonstrated professional dam experience, nationwide presence, and proven ability to quickly turn around projects. It will be required to complete typical dam assessments within six months and typical design reviews within six weeks, with a maximum of 20 simultaneous task orders. Approximately 300 to 800 dam assessments are anticipated. In addition, the following disciplines may be required: structural, civil, geotechnical, hydraulic, environmental engineering, and construction management.

As part of its current contract with the NRCS, Gannett Fleming is performing assessments in New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. Within the past 15 years, Gannett Fleming has completed 16 projects for the NRCS, including three new dams. The firm's project team has current experience with NRCS standards, policy, design manuals, and computer programs and criteria for dam projects.
