December 1, 2009

Left to right, John V. Dougherty, CEMC President Janeen Judah, and Ken T. Guttman.(Harrisburg, Pa.) The Chevron Environmental Management Company (CEMC) recently recognized Gannett Fleming for its Best-In-Class Overall Performance in 2009. Out of 15 preferred suppliers nationwide, Gannett Fleming was one of only four consultants selected.

Based on Gannett Fleming’s overall performance, this honor measures work in three major categories: safety, quality, and value. The firm’s performance is measured, graded, and published quarterly by CEMC in a scorecard, the most significant benchmarking tool used by CEMC to compare preferred providers’ performance. CEMC sets aggressive metrics goals to incentivize suppliers to perform at the highest level. Interestingly, Gannett Fleming achieved an overall score of “A” in two quarters and “B” in two quarters in 2009. A score of “A” signifies 3.5 out of 4.0 total points, and “B” signifies 3.0 out of 4.0.

CEMC is one of 40 operating companies within Chevron, the second largest integrated energy company in the U.S. CEMC spends approximately $850 million every year on environmental liabilities. As a trusted advisor to this mega firm, Gannett Fleming has been providing a broad range of environmental remediation services to CEMC for more than 20 years.

Gannett Fleming manages approximately 80 CEMC sites in 12 states, and its efforts reach as far west as New Mexico, as far south as southern Florida, and as far north as northern Wisconsin. Gannett Fleming’s services include program management, permitting, sub-surface investigations, remediation design and construction, and a variety of support services, such as geographic information systems work.

CEMC President Janeen Judah presented the Best-In-Class honor during a town hall meeting in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 5, 2009. Ken T. Guttman, Environmental Section manager in the Baltimore, Md., office, and John V. Dougherty, vice president and director of the Southeast Region, attended. Others in attendance included approximately 20 project and business unit managers with Chevron, as well as nearly 40 senior managers representing its preferred supplier firms.
