Gannett Fleming Expands Planning Practice

December 22, 2008

(Harrisburg, Pa.) Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm, is pleased to announce the expansion of its Planning Practice. To enhance customer service and strengthen the Practice, the firm has added industry-leading planning experts in the fields of municipal waste, recycling, and transportation. The Practice will continue to offer community, environmental, and transportation planning services.

With the new additions to the Practice, including Senior Certified Recycling Professionals (S.C.R.P.) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professionals (LEED® AP), the group is strongly positioned to provide full services for community planning. To help drive the success of the restructuring, Gannett Fleming’s Lori A. Robson, S.C.R.P., and Steven M. Deasy, S.C.R.P., LEED® AP, have been appointed to lead the firm’s internal planning resources and expand its planning capabilities.

Robson currently serves as the president of the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania (PROP) and has more than 17 years experience in the waste and recycling industry, including working as the operations manager of a recycling processing facility. Deasy brings more than nine years of experience to the Planning Practice. He has completed more than 100 waste management, recycling, and sustainability planning studies and serves as the Gannett Fleming Sustainability Committee Chair.

Planning a community has dramatically changed during the last 10 years. Creative, divergent, and comprehensive thinking coupled with advanced technological capabilities is required to successfully plan a community’s future. Gannett Fleming’s Planning Practice consists of more than 60 transportation, community, municipal waste, and geographic information system (GIS) planners skilled in successfully preparing comprehensive community plans.

Robson’s and Deasy’s collective experience, expertise, and leadership will guide Gannett Fleming’s Planning Practice to developing innovative and sustainable solutions and complement the firm’s expanded planning capabilities, creating a total solution package that supports the communities it serves and the surrounding environment.

“We continue to evaluate our services in relation to the dynamic needs of communities,” said Keith M. Chase, vice president and Planning Practice leader. “Gannett Fleming has a great track record for keeping pace with the changing needs of our clients and continues to be their trusted advisor.”

Gannett Fleming’s Planning Practice has successfully completed neighborhood master and revitalization plans; land use, transportation, and economic development studies; transit system and station area plans; traffic, circulation and parking studies; open space, greenways, and recreation plans; sewage facilities plans; and solid waste management plans for regional, county, and local governments.
