PA-AWRA Conference to Address Water Quality Management and Regulation

(Harrisburg, Pa.) The Pennsylvania Section of the American Water Resources Association (PA-AWRA) will hold its annual conference on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at the Wildwood Conference Center at the Harrisburg Area Community College Harrisburg, Pa., campus.

The focus of the PA-AWRA conference is “Water Quality Management and Regulation in Pennsylvania,” with one session devoted to each component. The keynote address will be presented by Cathleen Curran Myers, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s deputy secretary for water management. Several speakers will also provide information on the role of water quality in regulatory actions and management techniques for addressing contamination and water quality threats.

The PA-AWRA conference is open to engineers, consultants, basin and watershed planners, regulators, water supply and wastewater system managers, faculty, researchers, aquatic biologists, stakeholders, and water resource professionals.

The registration fee for the conference is $55 until Oct. 5, which includes coffee, refreshments, lunch, and membership in PA-AWRA for 2008. Student registration will be offered at a discounted rate of $25. Walk-in registration will be $60 on the day of the conference.
