(South Plainfield, N.J.) Robert B. Matthews, P.E., was elected president of the North
Central New Jersey Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). Based in the firm's South Plainfield, N.J., office, Matthews is a project manager specializing in civil and highway engineering with Gannett Fleming.
In his newly appointed position, Matthews oversees monthly meetings, represents the organization at various transportation events, and works to further ASHE's mission to promote safe and efficient highways.
Matthews has been an active ASHE member for more than a decade. Before assuming his new position, he served as vice president for two years. Matthews was also a member of the Scholarship Committee and served as the program chairman.
As a project manager with Gannett Fleming, Matthews is responsible for the management, design, planning, and coordination of transportation projects for various clients throughout New Jersey. A registered professional engineer in New Jersey, he holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Rutgers University.
