(Locust Valley, N.Y.) Fotios Papamichael, P.E., has received the Arthur Sidney Bedell Award from the Water Environment Federation (WEF). The Bedell Award recognizes Papamichael’s extraordinary personal service to the New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA).

The Bedell Award is named after Arthur Sidney Bedell, WEF's second president, for his devotion to the New York Sewage and Industrial Waste Association, now the NYWEA. It is presented to members who demonstrate dedicated service to a WEF member association.

Papamichael has been actively involved in the NYWEA for more than 30 years. Among his many contributions to the organization, he organized and served as the chairman of the First Annual NYWEA Scholarship Program Fundraiser Dinner Cruise.

With more than 35 years of experience, Papamichael is a vice president and the regional office manager of the firm's Locust Valley, N.Y., location. In this role, he is responsible for directing municipal engineering projects and supervises design efforts and construction-related services for municipal clients.

A registered professional engineer in three states, Papamichael holds a bachelor of engineering in civil engineering and a master of engineering in environmental engineering from the City College of New York.
