
Blystra Joins Gannett Fleming
(Harrisburg, Pa.) Andrew R. Blystra, P.E., has joined Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design, and construction management firm. Based in the firm’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa., Blystra serves as a senior geotechnical engineer in the Geotechnical Section of the Environmental Resources Division. He also leads the firm’s engineering services for the hydropower industry.
Blystra directs diverse project teams in the design and construction of dams and hydraulic structures for local, state, and federal government clients. He oversees geotechnical investigations and analyses, and prepares reports for regulatory agencies.
As the leader of Gannett Fleming’s hydropower initiatives, Blystra brings more than 30 years of experience as an engineer, regulator, and manager to his new role. He has an extensive background working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and private companies overseeing dam and hydroelectric programs. Blystra has published more than 20 professional papers on dams, erosion and sedimentation control, water storage reservoirs, and hydroelectric projects.
Blystra is a registered professional engineer in six states and a certified professional in erosion and sedimentation control. He holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the Michigan Technological University and a master of science in geotechnical engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Blystra is also a member of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials and the International Erosion Control Association.
