May
20, 2003 - At a special reception and gala during the 2003
Bentley International User Conference, Bentley, makers of MicroStation,
honored this year's Success Awards winners. Gannett Fleming won the
Best Use of Visualization Technology for their Phoenix Sky Harbor International
Airport Automated People Mover (APM) animation. The 3D model and animation,
created by George Martin, were developed in MicroStation V8 for the
proposal and presentation phase of the project. During the system design
phase, the model will be used to show the public and stakeholders how
the people mover will look and function.
The Phoenix Sky Harbor APM will provide increased service to airport
users, enhanced circulation between airport facilities, and a connection
to a proposed Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. The completed model illustrates
proposed parking garages, an enclosed APM connection, an elevated guideway,
and the entrance to a tunnel portion of the project.
